Consumer DRAM DDR2 is the next generation of consumer oriented memory.
Double Data Rate Two (DDR2) SDRAM is a further development of DDR products. The latest
generation of DRAM architecture supports twice the bandwidth and reduces the power consumption at
the same time.
DDR and DDR2 technology have a data transfer rate of 2 bits per clock cycle. The advantage of
DDR2 is the maximum data transfer rate of 800 Mbits per second compared with the 400 Mbits per
second possible for DDR. DDR2 has been standardized by JEDEC and is fully supported by all DRAM
companies worldwide.
